Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Material Inspector with a background in Mechanical Engineering to oversee the inspection of piping materials in the oil and gas sector. The role is based in the Shanghai region and requires extensive experience in inspecting mechanical components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect piping materials including pipes, valves, flanges, gaskets, bolts, and fittings to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Review Mill Test Certificates (MTCs), compliance documents, and supplier quality documentation.
- Identify and document non-conformities; coordinate with vendors and internal QA/QC for corrective actions.
- Ensure materials meet ASME, ASTM, API, and ISO standards relevant to oil and gas projects.
- Support third-party and client inspections at vendor facilities when required.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections and generate technical reports.
- Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and quality teams throughout the inspection process.
- Travel to various vendor sites across China for inspections and material verifications.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in material inspection, particularly in piping components (pipes, valves, flanges, etc.). Strong focus on oil and gas projects is mandatory.
- Certifications: NDT Level II Certification (UT, PT, MT, etc.), CSWIP, BGAS, or equivalent inspection certifications (preferred).
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of ASME, ASTM, API standards, and familiarity with Chinese supplier standards and manufacturing practices.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings and quality documents.
- Other Skills: Excellent communication, documentation, and reporting skills.
